TRIBECA UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL is celebrating its third year. Over the course of five nights about 50 short films from around the world. will be screened including narratives, documentaries, experimental, animation and specs. Screenings will be held from May 2nd to May 6th at the well known SOHO HOUSE NY with a kick off Opening Night Cocktail May 2nd in the White Room at 6 PM, followed by a 2 hours screening in the Soho House Screening Room. All screenings will be held daily after until May 6th included from 7 to 9 PM at the Soho House with some special screenings at The Park Avenue Screening Room, 500 Park Avenue New York City.
The AWARDS CEREMONY will take place Sunday May 7th at 6PM also at the Soho House. Laurence Asseraf founder and Director of the festival secured a new location due to the growing interest in the event and the Short Film Screening Series that she started in September 2004. Asseraf decided to rename the festival and to expand its scope, offering film events throughout the year, and creating a community for short filmmakers and film connoisseurs.
The mission of TRIBECA UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL is to showcase the best national and international short films in animation, documentary, experimental, and narrative categories. Focusing on the fact that "Shorter is Better" the festival even opened a new category of possible submissions this year with Spec Commercials. TUFF aims at becoming the largest short film festival on the East Coast. Held once a year in Manhattan concurrently to the "big" Tribeca film festival, it provides a cultural and entertaining forum while recognizing and honoring independent emerging filmmakers through a panel of judges from the entert! ainment industry who reviews the films and gives the awards.
